March in December!

Just saw the bracket for the Chaffee Tournament and thought it interesting at how the match ups should work out.

Delta is the #1 seed and I'm sure they will be favored to repeat as the district 2 champion again. Seeded 4th and 5th is Oran and Scott County Central, respectively. These two more than likely will play for the district 1 championship. This creates a Delta vs Oran/SCC match up in the semifinals and a potential sneak preview of a Class 1 sectional.

No Two and Out This Year

Certainly was nice to get the first "W" before December. Really enjoyed the aggressive play last night and I'm glad all the kids got to play.

The "Dirty Birds" shirts are sharp. Good job there.

I'm really looking forward to the kids bringin' home some hardware (okay, keeping some at home).

Man I Feel Younger!

Last night seeing Ronnie Cookson on the Scott County Central bench made me feel 20 years younger. Unfortunately the results were the same as when I was younger. Once again SCC was victorious over my Eagles.

A 3-13 night at the line won't win many close games but it sure will lose a bunch.

Oh well, this year's team has the potential to win a lot of games. I think tonight is key for the future. If they come out with their dobbers down it could be a long season. However, if they come out and play with the same intensity as they had against the Braves, Oran should rout a weak Twin Rivers Royals team and have something to build on going into the consolation final against either Kelly or Advance.

It was really nice to see the student body out in force last night. I applaud the administration for taking a pep bus to the district tournament last year. The momentum from that has carried over, I do believe. I understand that the Dirty Birds shirts arrive today and I am hoping to see the nest full tonight. The team can feed off the energy that its fans provide.

It Starts Tonight!

For me, the official start of the basketball season is here.

This has been an event that I have enjoyed since my childhood. I remember bleachers on the stage, a smoky foyer at the front of the gym and having to walk to the concession stand in the ag room.

Anybody else have any memories of the Oran Invitational Tournament?
