Coach's Answering Machine
A friend of mine posted this on my website and I had to pass this along. It's simply ....... PRICELESS!
COACH'S ANSWERING MACHINE
Paraphrased from the message that the Pacific Palisades High School ( California ) staff voted unanimously to record on their school telephone answering machine.
This came about because they implemented a policy requiring students and parents to be responsible for their children's absences and missing homework. The school and teachers are being sued by parents who want their children's failing grades changed to passing grades - even though those children were absent 15-30 times during the semester and did not complete enough schoolwork to pass their classes.
The outgoing message: "Hello! You have reached the automated answering service of the Basketball Program. In order to assist you in connecting to the right coach, please listen to all the options before making a selection:
* To lie about why your child is missed practice - Press 1
* To make excuses for why your child shouldn’t have to follow team rules- Press 2
* To complain about what we do without actually talking with someone in person - Press 3
* To swear at coaches - Press 4
* To ask why you didn't get information that was already enclosed in your newsletter and several flyers mailed to you and discussed at Booster meetings - Press 5
* If you want to reach out and touch, slap or hit someone -Press 6
* To request another coach, for the third time this year -Press 7
* To complain the coaches are too hard on the kids - Press 8
* To complain the coaches aren’t hard enough on the kids - Press 9
* To complain about coaches being inaccessible – just speak up, call us at work or at home, come up after a game, send an email, send a postcard, a text message or even come by our office.
* If you realize this is the real world and your child must be accountable and responsible for his/her own behavior, performance, attitude and that it's not the coaches’ fault for your child's lack of effort: Hang up and have a nice day!

Happy New Year!

With the first post of the new year, lets finish up some old year business.
The College High Christmas tournament...oops the University High...er the SeMissourian Christmas Tournament was full of surprises. Never would have thought it would be BC vs Jackson for the championship. Never would have thought that Jackson would have played such soft defense against Bogan. I would have thought that with all the big bodies that Coach Scott could have thrown out there that they would front and bring some weak side help. Oh well, that's why he gets the big bucks.
The match up I would like to see would would be Cape Central and Bell City. Not because I think it would be a good game or anything but because of the clash of assistant coaches. I wonder if Coach Carrol Williams and Coach Niemczyk have kept in touch over the years...Now if we could only get Nate to show...
Congratulations to the Lady Eagles and their 2-0 start in 2007. Keep focused and play your best on Saturday in the championship against Delta.
The guys hit the floor for the first time this year tonight at Saxony Lutheran. Go get 'em Dirty Birds.
